Researchers from the University of Valencia in Spain interested in what happens to the human body when angry. And this finding appears to support a general psychological theory which states that the 'ventilation' emotions better mental health than allowing her to remain locked aka landfilled.
This study found that expressing anger can increase blood flow to parts of the brain involved with feeling happy.
To conduct this study, researchers collected 30 people in a lab, slowly increasing the level of their anger and watched.
Heart rate, blood pressure and stress levels of two hormones, testosterone and cortisol participants, measured everything. The brain is also in the screening, from the beginning to the end of the study.
The findings that have been published in the journal Hormones and Behavior shows that the left side of the brain is more stimulated when the participants are angry.
"The area is generally left frontal brain involved in positive emotions, whereas the right part associated with negative emotions," says Dr. Neus Herrero, from the University of Valencia in Spain, who led the study, as reported by the Telegraph, Thursday (03/06/2010).
Dr. Herrero also said that anger can lead to major changes in the human body, which controls the work of the heart and hormones. He showed that cortisol levels decreased and increased testosterone levels.
In addition, there is a change in brain activity, especially in the frontal and temporal lobes.
However, the study found that anger can also have negative effects on the body, namely the participants' blood pressure was increased when angry. (detikhealth.com)
